This
fertile island with palm fringed coastline and temperate
effects of the Gulf Stream flowing around its shores has
wonderful countryside to explore - six nature trails and
a walking guide illustrating eight separate walks from 1
to 3 hour duration, easy or hard, hire a bike, join a group
or explore on your own, it's a superb introduction to the
flora and fauna of the island.
Outdoor
recreation also includes golf (3 courses) bowling (4 greens),
riding and pony trekking. Loch and sea angling - trout and
course -bank, boat and shore.
For the indoor activist there is a heated swimming pool,
sauna and solarium, concert hail and leisure centre. All
situated in the island's capital town and Royal Burgh of
Rothesay which provides the bright lights and entertainment.
Dominating both the centre of the town and the history of
the island is Rothesay Castle which today is one of the
finest medieval buildings in all of Scotland and the natural
place to begin exploring this fascinating, unique and very
beautiful island.
