This fertile island with palm fringed coastline and temperate effects of the Gulf Stream flowing around its shores has wonderful countryside to explore - six nature trails and a walking guide illustrating eight separate walks from 1 to 3 hour duration, easy or hard, hire a bike, join a group or explore on your own, it's a superb introduction to the flora and fauna of the island.

Outdoor recreation also includes golf (3 courses) bowling (4 greens), riding and pony trekking. Loch and sea angling - trout and course -bank, boat and shore.

For the indoor activist there is a heated swimming pool, sauna and solarium, concert hail and leisure centre. All situated in the island's capital town and Royal Burgh of Rothesay which provides the bright lights and entertainment.

Dominating both the centre of the town and the history of the island is Rothesay Castle which today is one of the finest medieval buildings in all of Scotland and the natural place to begin exploring this fascinating, unique and very beautiful island.
